My 1789 Reno
Welcome!
If you've landed here, you're probably a DIY'er, HGTV lover, Pinterest fanatic, and Farmhouse enthusiast, too. You're not alone.

I used to love spending hours watching home renovation shows on HGTV and collecting mental notes of what I wanted my home to look like one day. One of my biggest dreams became to buy an old home in need of TLC and turn it into my own fixer upper, just like my grandparents did for years.
After years of saving, searching, and hoping, I was finally fortunate enough to find my fixer upper home in fall 2017. It was love at first sight, especially after the number of houses I'd looked at that just fell short. This house was everything I had been looking for and more. It was a good size to hold a family, it came with some land for me to have horses and other farm animals, it needed a lot of love, and best of all- it was built in 1789.

You read that right- 1789. My home was built the same year George Washington was inaugurated, and three years before the town I live in was even established. However, even though the history and charm are a huge bonus, and the house has good bones, it does need A LOT of work.

One step at a time, I plan to work to turn my dream fixer upper farmhouse into my dream home. With the knowledge that things can (and do) come up that either halt or slow progress, I'm taking my time and tackling this reno one project at a time.

I'm happy for you to join me in this journey toward renovating my fixer upper, and getting some insight on some of those bumps in the road. I'm learning a lot as I go, and hope you do too!
